Amber Dawn (Rapert) Fondo (CRC ’04) lives in Springfield, Missouri. She is married to Isaac Fondo and they are expecting their first child this Spring. Amber is a Behavioral Health Tech and she and Isaac attend Walnut Lawn Church of Christ.
Michael (CRC ’10) and Emily (Smith) Chaffin (CRC ‘03) announce the arrival of a baby girl. Olivia Anne Chaffin arrived in January at 7.4 1bs and 19.6 inches long.
Michael Nix, (CRC ‘06) was recently promoted to Assistant Director of Admissions at Crowley’s Ridge College.
In the November 2010 Christian Chronicle, there is a full page story about Janet and Fieldon Allison. Janet and Fieldon met at Crowley’s Ridge Academy in the 5th grade. They have been married for 41 years. They graduated from CRA and then attended CRC in 1967 and 1968. The article tells of their current mission work in Africa. Vic Bell (CRC ’66) was in the first incoming class at CRC in the summer of 1964 and graduated with the second class in February, 1966. Vic lives on Lookout Mtn. in NE Alabama now and worships with Antioch Church of Christ. He has six grandkids, with the two oldest in college at UAB. He retired from the Postal Service some years ago, but keeps plenty busy. He’s a volunteer firefighter at Black Creek, a Skywarn Storm Spotter, a Skywatcher for ABC3340 in Birmingham and a Master Gardener. He enjoys photography, birding, hiking/camping and deer hunting. Neta Clement (CRC ’76) is single, living in San Antonio, TX, and working as a hairdresser. She has 3 adult children: Lindsey Grizzelle is married and pregnant with her first child, and lives in San Antonio, twin sons, Lane, is married with two children, and also lives in San Antonio, and Lance, single, lives in Dallas, TX. Neta is involved in the singles' ministry at Watermark Church in Boerne, TX, located just outside of San Antonio.
Billy Lee Davis (CRC ’72) is retired and lives in Imboden, Arkansas. He attends the Imboden Church of Christ.
Dwight (CRC ’67) and Janet Hicks recently moved to Elgin, Oklahoma to be near their daughters (Melissa and Julie) and grandchildren. Dwight is a retired teacher and they attend Porter Hill Church of Christ.
Rowdy (CRC ’96) and Harmony (White) Fortson have recently relocated back to Paragould. They and their 4 year old Aria Bella, also recently welcomed a new addition to the family. Lyra Grace Fortson, 19 1/2" long, and 7 lbs 3 oz was born on September 27th. Rowdy is working as the high school art teacher for Harrisburg High School, is the minister at the County Line church of Christ, is a Chaplain with the Jonesboro Police Department, and recently received his Masters from A.S.U. in Educational Theory and Practice.
Aaron (CRC ’94) and Billie Jean (CRC ’94) Carter Brister live in Royston, Georgia where Aaron is the baseball coach for Emmanuel College. After CRC, Aaron went on to Harding University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology, and in 2001, completed his Master of Science Education. He obtained his PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 2004. Aaron and Billie Jean have two daughters, Eden Jewell and Lily Grace and one son, Isaiah Scott.
Dan Newsom (CRC ’72) retired from his 33 year career with the Social Security Administration in October, 2007. He and his wife, Barb, live in Searcy, Arkansas and have one daughter, Julie Mooney, who resides in Dallas, Texas. He and Barb attend College Church of Christ in Searcy where he has served as an elder since 2000. Dan received CRC’s 2008 Outstanding Alumnus Award. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Crowley's Ridge College Board of Directors.
Rodney & Deana Freeman, (CRC ‘91) of Jonesboro, AR announce the birth of their second child, Brody Edward, born February 10, 2010. Brody has an eleven year old sister, Alye Drue, who is a sixth grader at Valley View.
Mitch Walton, (CRC ‘77) of Pocahontas was recently named the Crowley’s Ridge College Distinguished Alumnus for 2010. On Tuesday, February 16, CRC President Ken Hoppe and CRC Vice Presidents Art Smith and Richard Johnson presented this award to Mitch at a home basketball game in the Sloan-Hendrix gymnasium in Imboden, Arkansas. Mitch is the superintendent for the Sloan-Hendrix School District. Mitch is married to the former Terri Futrell. They have one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Alicia, and one daughter, Paige.
Jay Simpson, (CRC ‘81) received the Distinguished Service Award from the Arkansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA) at its fall conference. The award was bestowed upon Simpson based on “...outstanding achievements to the financial aid profession and to AASFAA’s goals...demonstrated service to other professionals, students and other publics served by the financial aid community...significant contributions over a period of time and is the highest award bestowed by the Association.” Simpson is the assistant director of financial aid services at Harding University.
Mike McConnaughhay, (CRC ‘07) and the former Lauren Duke were married on December 12, 2009.
Cindy Henry, (CRC ‘03) was named the ACCA 2009 Coach of the Year in volleyball. Cindy is the volleyball and softball coach at CRC.
